Bank of Ghana Printed GH¢22 Billion Without Parliamentary Approval – Ato Forson alleges
Akuffo Addo’s gov’t led by the Finance minister has gone to Bank of Ghana to print GH¢22 billion fresh money without the knowledge of Parliament.
Documents that the government withheld from Parliament reveal that the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison, printed more than GH¢22 billion without the necessary authorisation from Parliament to fund the budget.
Journalist Mapuri reported some time back that Page 97 of Mid-year Budget Review had information of Ghs 22bn new notes printed by BoG without Parliamentary Approval. He received some backlashes for that.
Minority spokesperson on Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson says his side has discovered that the Bank of Ghana, acting under the instruction o of the government has illegally printed more than GH¢22 billion into the system.
