The Nana Akufo-Addo led administration has for the second time extended the supply of free water and electricity to Ghanaians, the Finance Minister, Ken Offori Atta has announced.

This will be the second time the Government of Ghana has announced a free water and electricity consumption for Ghanaians. In April 2020, gov’t announced free water and electricity for 3 months.

The absorbent of the water and electricity bill by President Akufo-Addo forms part of efforts to lessen the economic impact on Ghanaians due to coronavirus pandemic.

Presenting the 2020 Mid-year budget review, the Finance Minister said the free water initiative would be for all water consumers in Ghana, while that of the electricity would be limited to lifeline consumers.

“That is also why we further reduced electricity prices by half and completely provided potable water for free for everybody since March this year. And we will extend it for another three months,” Mr Ofori-Atta told Parliament.

Meanwhile, the political agenda sets as Mahama’s NDC has promised free tertiary education in Ghana.
