Philippine boxing star Manny Pacquiao claims he is set to run for president in next year’s political election.
He was named as a competitor by a group of the ruling party, PDP-Laban.
In spite of the fact that Manny Pacquiao is an athlete, a boxing star besides, he has demonstrated he has political desires being a congressperson in the Philippines’ parliament.
He has exceptionally linked an idealogy behind his boxing career and politics with a dedication to winning both inside and outside the boxing ring.
BBC reported earlier that, Incumbent Rodrigo Duterte is barred from another term but has been picked by a rival party faction to run for vice-president, a move critics say is an attempt to cling to power.
He was chosen to run close by a nearby partner, Christopher “Bong” Go, yet Mr Go says he would not like to succeed Mr Duterte. Pacquiao has accepted the challenge to run for Philippines president.
While his party says it needs Mr. Go to reevaluate his choice, his dismissal of the assignment has prompted ideas that President Duterte’s little girl Sara Duterte-Carpio could go along with him on the ticket.
Mr Pacquiao’s main concern for being president is iintegrity, compassion and transparency in leadership.
