UNICEF Ghana has established the relationship between the media and advocacy for female adolescent issues.
The outfit plans on partnering with media houses to set agenda for every girl empowerment.
With support from Global Affairs Canada, UNICEF is working with the media to strengthen their capacity to advocate on issues that affect adolescent girls such as teenage pregnancy and child marriage.
Speaking at a workshop on 13th July 2021, Associate Professor at the Department of Communication Studies, and Dean of the School of Information and Communication Studies, University of Ghana, Professor Audrey Gadzekpo emphasised that the media is definitely a key stakeholder in the fight for teenage girls and other associated issues.
“The media is an important stakeholder and often sets the agenda. It is therefore important to be mindful of our reporting and framing of stories,” said Professor Audrey Gadzekpo, during the workshop.
