Gregg Charles Popovich, an American professional basketball coach and executive who is the president and head coach of the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association, has announced his retirement.
In 1992, Popovich became a member of the Golden State Warriors’ coaching staff before returning to San Antonio in 1994 and 1995 as executive vice president of basketball operations/general manager. He became the Spurs’ head coach after the first 18 games of the 1996–97 season.
Jordan Shultz, a sports analyst, tweeted that the company has begun an internal search for a new coach.
Meanwhile, supporters appear uninterested in Gregg Popovich’s retirement, despite his age of 72.
