Twitter picks Ghana as the first African country for it’s first Twitter office in Africa.
As part of Twitter’s mission is to serve the public conversation and to increase the number of people who feel comfortable participating in it. The organization has decided to set up an office in Africa. The company addressed this initiative as “Establishing Twitter’s presence in Africa”.
“Today, in line with our growth strategy, we’re excited to announce that we are now actively building a team in Ghana. To truly serve the public conversation, we must be more immersed in the rich and vibrant communities that drive the conversations taking place every day across the African continent.” Kayvon Beykpour and Uche Adegbite published.
Twitter announced on Monday, 12 April 2021 that they are now actively building a team in Ghana.

Why Twitter choose Ghana?
According to the company, Ghana is a champion for democracy and a supporter of free speech, online freedom, and the Open Internet of which Twitter is also an advocate.
In addition, Twitter reveled that the company works hard to ensure that we are not just investing in the talent that we hire, but also investing in local communities and the social fabric that supports them.
Ghana’s reaction to First Twitter Company in Africa
The president of Ghana acknowledged the good news. On behalf of the entire nation, H. E Akufo-Addo welcomed the big announcement by Twitter for choosing Ghana for the first Africa office.
“The choice of Ghana as HQ for Twitter’s Africa operations is EXCELLENT news. Gov’t and Ghanaians welcome very much this announcement and the confidence reposed in our country.” Akufo-Addo said.

Twitter has already laid foundations through partnerships with Amref Health Africa in Kenya, Afrochella in Ghana, Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative (MANI) in Nigeria, and The HackLab Foundation in Ghana.
