Alexander Roy, aged 25, has been formally charged with involuntary manslaughter following the tragic death of 22-year-old Jesse Brown Hernandez. US Park Police officer shoots fellow officer at Virginia gathering.
The incident occurred at a gathering held in an apartment located in McLean, Virginia, approximately 10 miles west of Washington, D.C. Law enforcement responded to the incident shortly after midnight on Sunday.
Two other individuals, one of whom was another U.S. Park Police officer, were present at the gathering. Authorities have stated that the consumption of alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the shooting. Alexander Roy is currently in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without the option for bond.
Regrettably, Jesse Brown Hernandez was discovered deceased with a gunshot wound to the upper part of the body. The investigation into this incident is still ongoing, and the Fairfax County Police Department has urged anyone with information related to the occurrence to come forward.
Additionally, the father of the shooter in the Highland Park parade incident has entered a plea deal, pleading guilty to reckless conduct charges.
A press release from the U.S. Park Police said they are aware of the incident and directed all questions about the investigation to the Fairfax County police. “Our focus right now is on supporting the family, friends and coworkers of our employees involved in this tragic incident. USPP has nothing further to share at this time,” said the U.S. Park Police in a statement.”
